In this digital era, internet presence is crucial for your business's sustenance and growth. Hence, directing an abundant traffic flow to your website becomes a priority. If you aim to close more clients online, sell more products, or reach more people, this free marketing strategy will achieve that by increasing your website traffic.
Empty stores do not sell.
It is no myth that low-traffic websites are a death sentence for sales. How can a website serve its function if no one visits it? Increasing traffic (and conversion rates) will increase the chances of getting new sales, subscriptions, or followers.
A common misconception is that website traffic is determined mainly by its content (or design). Instead, website traffic is mostly determined by the methods used to call the prospect's attention and direct him or her to the website. The better the medium and message are, the more people will visit the website.
Cutting the myths around marketing, it is all about finding prospects and guiding them to the next step (or offer). SEO, SMM, paid ads, printed media, etc.—their purpose is casting nets. In this guide, we execute a marketing strategy to attract prospects to visit the website.
Isn't marketing both expensive and arbitrary?
Nowadays, it can be pretty cheap to run a successful marketing campaign. In this guide, we offer a basic marketing strategy that costs about $0, yes, for free. Depending on your current website traffic, it can be boosted by 10x or even 100x within weeks.
Paid marketing services, such as advertisement, professional SEO optimization, AI systems, etc., have their place. But until you establish the foundations of a marketing plan, they will be a waste of money and effort. Don't expect something to happen by paying for random services. Instead, invest in a system that works.
Build a reputation online and set up a sales funnel. This strategy will generate constant traffic and place your business well ahead of most competition. Once executed successfully and consistently, even premium services will provide higher ROI. So, let's get started!
Step 1: Create content for your audience.
I assume you know your target audience, right? If you don’t, start interacting with them NOW. Be intimate with them. Be clear about their pains and objectives.
Ask yourself, what do you have to offer for your audience? Can you solve a problem they are worried about? Can you get them closer to their objectives? You must understand the people you are relating with and craft a compelling offer(s). Empathy is key.
Once you DO know your audience, you can start generating content. You will write long-form articles. The subject of your articles will always gravitate around your offers, objectives, and brand. Your focus is to provide real value to the readers.
You will post articles on your website (or blogging platform) at least weekly. Over time, this will set you as an industry leader and nourish a relationship with your audience.
With proper SEO tags, posting articles increases the odds of your website appearing in a search engine (free publicity). Also, the more quality content you have on your website, the longer people will stay reading from you.
Step 2: Expand your nets.
Now that you have your marketing powerhouse, a stream of articles, you will use them to expand your nets! For each weekly article, you make them into little chunks that you post daily on your social media platform of choice.
But first, a word of warning: do not post content on an arbitrary social media platform. Instead, catch the attention of the right people. Do some market research to see which social media platform your audience is the most active. Is it Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube? Know your audience, and choose the best platform to start with.
Then, find out what works best for your platform. You can use background images, make videos related to the article, and add content that works well for your audience. Check on your competition. Test things out and stay with what has the most engagement.
I recommend automating the posts for the whole week. I take one day a week, usually Sunday, to make the daily chunks from my latest article and an extra daily post.
Make sure you post a link to your website regularly! It can be twice a week, maybe more. You can go as simple as: “Do you like this post? Subscribe to my newsletter.” This call to action is required to direct your audience to visit your website and increase its traffic.
Step 3: Keep them on the hook.
Now that your website receives visitors from both search engines and your social media accounts, you can take advantage of this and invite the reader to subscribe to your newsletter. Mailing lists are an easy and proven way to do this.
Although it’s hard to cut through the noise of countless competing emails, having a newsletter that provides real insight and value is a great way to maintain recurring visitors.
A simple but effective template has a headline as the subject, the first paragraph as a teaser, and a link to the full article. The article is delivered quickly and to the point.
Platforms like ConvertKit, Substack, or Mailchimp handle all the struggles of growing a mailing list and sending the news to the subscribers each time you post. They offer simple ways to integrate it with your website or blogging platform.
Forging trust with consistency.
Writing articles regularly, posting daily, and interacting often with your audience on social media will help you understand their needs and interests. Engagement metrics reveal what's relevant for your audience and influence future publications.
Consistency is key. Define a clear schedule of content and follow it without exception. With patience and determination, those three steps will generate a loyal audience, much higher website traffic, and increased trustworthiness. Over time, this marketing strategy increases monthly sales (or subscriptions) and client retention.
